Spring brings coin hobby opportunities to the Barton County area

Mindenmines…  “It’s been a long winter season in the coin business as many of our routine activities have been disrupted by the weather,” quipped Dave Sorrick, owner of In God We Trust LLC, a local coin, gold, and silver store located in Mindenmines. “Though our Second Tuesday Coin and Currency auctions were not interrupted, many of our area coin club activities were. Gladly, Spring brings warmer weather and a slate of activities for area collectors,” he added.
On Tuesday, April 8 a major coin auction will be held at Border Town Auction House, located in the former location of the Bank of Minden in downtown Mindenmines. “Our April 8 auction is devoted to the sale of part of the collection of a prominent collector from Southeast Kansas. It is a large estate representing decades of collecting and I’m honored to bring it to market,” Sorrick stated. The sale begins at 6:30pm at 611 Main Street and will be conducted once again by Bill Nance.
The first Saturday in May will mark the return of the Lamar, MO Coin and Collector Show to the Thiebaud Auditorium in Lamar. “It is an honor and privilege to bring this one-day event back to Lamar on May 3. Many of our familiar friends will return and will be joined by some new faces behind the dealer tables. Folks are welcome to browse, buy, and sell at this event. Not only is it a free admission family event, the first several visitors will have an opportunity to receive a free Proof coin.  The Pittsburg, KS Coin Club will conduct a 50/50 fundraiser, as well.” Readers of the Lamar Democrat may clip a coupon appearing in today’s issue for the free Proof coin and redeem it on May 3 at the Thiebaud Auditorium beginning at 9am.
New this Spring is a display of coins at the newly open Junkin’ Jewel Flea Market in downtown Jasper, MO. “Heather Gibson invited In God We Trust LLC to offer a selection of coins, currency, and related collectibles in her new business in downtown Jasper. Located at 107 W. Grand in the spot of a former antique market, she offers an opportunity to shop locally from Wednesday through Sunday near Barton County. I encourage you to drop by and tell her ‘Dave’ sent you,” Sorrick said. “And, of course, I remain open on Wednesdays in Mindenmines at my place.”
In God We Trust LLC offers coin estate appraisals and liquidations, as well as other services related to coins, currency, and precious metals at 611 Main, Mindenmines, MO by appointment.
