Get Ready for Better Health: Community Live Well Screening to be held at Cox Barton County Hospital

Cox Barton County Hospital will host a community wellness screening on Oct. 5 to provide residents with important health information and a chance to connect with local health resources.

The event will occur at Cox Barton, located at 29 NW 1st Lane in Lamar, from 7 a.m. to noon.

For $45, participants (ages 18+) will receive a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, full lipid profile (cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides), Hgb A1C (blood glucose), TSH (thyroid), and, for an additional $15, a PSA test (prostate cancer). Please fast for 10-12 hours prior to the blood draw. Tests will be performed on a walk-in basis and are self-pay. Only cash or checks will be accepted.

"Knowing your health numbers helps you take control of your well-being and make informed choices to prevent chronic illnesses," says Kami Frieden, RN, screening co-coordinator. "We're thrilled to host an event like this because it will have something for everyone in the family.”

Apart from the blood draw, attendees can receive complimentary blood pressure and pulse checks, EKG screenings (ages 18+), and bone density screenings. Education regarding stroke, heart health, and gun safety will be provided.

More than 20 local agencies will be represented showcasing healthy living and life safety. In addition, CoxHealth Public Safety and Security will be offering complimentary gun locks and a chance to win a gun safe.

The event is open to individuals of all ages and no registration is required.
