Local and rural residents seeking high-quality mental and behavioral health support will soon have access to one of the region’s most accomplished practitioners.
Dr. Donna K. Daniel, Ed.D., LPCC, has officially joined Avenue of Mental Health LLC located inside the Barton County Health Department 1301 E 12th St. in Lamar. Dr. Daniel will officially begin accepting new adult individuals and couples ages 20 and up on September 1st, 2026. Dr. Daniel brings a rare and expansive depth of clinical skills, holding a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Northern Arizona University and a master’s degree in counseling from Appalachian State University (with specializations in Addictions, Marriage & Family, and Group Counseling), as well as foundational undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Political Science from Duke University.
A LEGACY OF SERVICE & MILITARY SUPPORT
Throughout her broad career, Dr. Daniel has served diverse populations across the globe. Most recently, she served as a Telehealth Licensed Behavioral Health Provider for Wexford Health with the State of New Mexico Department of Corrections. Her distinguished trajectory includes years as a Military & Family Life Counselor (MFLC) stationed at U.S. military bases both domestically and overseas, providing vital counseling services to service members and their families in Germany, Italy, Japan, North Carolina, and Arizona.
Her clinical reach extends into community mental health, crisis intervention, special education counseling, and private practice—including an active role as an independent contractor with BetterHelp since 2016. Furthermore, Dr. Daniel served as a Behavioral Health Supervisor for the New Mexico State Department of Health Rehabilitation Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP & RECOGNIZED EXCELLENCE
Dr. Daniel’s expertise has earned national leadership roles, including serving as National President of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and State President of the Arizona Counselors Association. Her academic contributions include serving as an online adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University and Argosy University, as well as acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the State of California Board of Behavioral Services and McKissock Inc. Her extensive contributions earned her the 2008 Woman of the Year designation by the American Biographical Institute.
